Catalyst 2014 Session 2: Christine Caine

  • The enemy came to take out my voice. My way of getting back is talk more, louder, faster.
  • We recently launched Propel Women (propelwomen.org).
  • We need to do more than survive. We need to lean in and thrive.
  • When I was in labor, I found the fourth person of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit and God the epidural. I highly recommend it. Any time you can legally have one, do it!
  • It’s true that God looks at the heart, but he is the only one who does that. Every other person is checking you out…especially at a ladies conference.
  • If you start moving and doing more than your core can sustain, you’re body is going to fall apart.
    • We don’t like to do the stuff that strengthens our physical core. It is the stuff that will  sustain us though.
    • If we don’t do the stuff to strengthen our spiritual core, if our core is not strong, whether it happens now, five years from now, our world will collapse. The reason you see so many start well, but not finish well, is because their core is not strong.
  • What is your spiritual core?
    • Matthew 22:34-40
    • 613 Old Testament, Mosaic commandments hang on these two things. If we could just get these two things right, everything else will just pale into oblivion which is where it belongs.
    • Most of us really do love our neighbors like ourselves, we just don’t love ourselves.
    • We have a whole bunch of Christians wanting to change the world, but not change themselves.
    •  was a broken mess. I was damaged. But the fact was God had gifted me, anointed me. But my gifting would have taken me someplace my character would have never sustained me.
    • God could have said to love me with anything, but he said heart, soul, mind.

HEART

  • Heart is the seed of our passion. If your heart is in your leadership, God’s got you.
  • You do what you want for passion; you do what you have to for an obligation.
  • Remember when you wanted to draw closer to Jesus? What happened?
  • Somewhere along the line, if we don’t guard our heart, we’ll encounter problems.
  • Out of our hearts flow every issue in life.
  • We can start with passion, but what happened to the passion?
  • Our hearts can become toxic. They can become filled with bitterness, greed, pride, lust. Our hearts can become apathetic.
  • We don’t have to go out there and build a name for us.
  • Our hearts will take us to our destiny.
  • If your heart is toxic, it’s going to seep into every area of our lives and ministry.
  • “Do not grow weary in doing good…”
  • I’m astounded by the amount of fainting, weariness, burnout that I’m seeing.
  • “Those who wait on the Lord…”
  • Why are so many tired? Because we’re not waiting on God, we’re waiting on the latest stats.
  • Why don’t you get your face off of Facebook and get it in the word of God?
  • Skinny jeans and a tattoo does not make you a leader, being full of the word of God makes you a leader.
  • We need a generation that will ruthlessly guard their heart, won’t dilute the rule of God in our hearts.
  • You have to deal with your heart.

SOUL

  • Praying a salvation prayer does not heal your soul. It saves it, but it does not necessarily heal it.
  • Until you quit eating the Krispy Kremes and get on the treadmill, the cellulite is going to heaven with you.
  • We’ve been damaged. His image in us has been marred.
  • If we don’t deal with our damaged soul, we leak like a puss-filled scab all over those we lead.
  • It takes time for wounds to heal. It doesn’t matter what you do, sometimes it just takes time.
  • Many of us have locked God out of the wounds because we’ve determined to never let anyone near that space again.
  • Some of us are not willing to embrace the pain of recovery. If we’re not willing to let God go in there, we’re going to stay wounded.
  • We want to visit with God but God doesn’t want to visit. He wants to move in to the neighborhood.
  • What happens when someone visits your house?
  • If we could just get our selves saved for 7 days, instead of our churches having to keep Christians on life support, what could we do in the world?

MIND

  • Your thoughts are like a train; they’ll take us somewhere.
  • We jump on the first thought and we have no mind on where it is going to take us.
  • Romans 12
  • We ought to be ruthless about what goes into our minds. We need to garrison our minds and our hearts. We need to fill our minds with the word of God.
  • I didn’t need worriers; I need warriors.
  • “Greater is he that is in you…”
  • My fight was not against cancer, it was against fear.
  • As leaders let’s make the decision to jump on the right train.
  • Cancer is not terminal, life is terminal. I’ll only go when God wants us to go.
  • It all comes down to trust. That thing that is keeping you up at night, do you trust the sovereignty of God? He is trustworthy!
  • I will not believe the lives of the enemy; I will believe the truth of the word of God.
  • We as leaders, need to know that when the enemy comes, our identity is based on what the Father says. Refute the lies of the enemy with the truth of God’s word.
  • Love the Lord our God with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our minds.
  • The degree to which we are free and which we are healed is the degree in which we’ll be able to lead others into freedom and wholeness.
  • Our job is to bring the captives free and allowing free people to become whole.
  • We produce what we are.
